This painting is about what persists despite the events of our lives; a life force that extends beyond interruption. It was inspired by an experience inside the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, where a strong impression of her optimism, resilience, and a belief in human goodness remained palpable. That sense of a life force not entirely extinguished . As such, this painting imagines encountering her in 1953 in a park. The sparse trees and textured sky evoke a space that is simultaneously inviting and disquieting. A place suspended between reality and the possibility of an enduring human spirit.
